Led by
the cornetist Ansgar Duemchen, who has more than 25 years musical
experience playing traditional jazz in Europe and the United States,
these
musicians present a class show that covers more than 50 years of
American
popular songs.
Trombonist John Mascorella with his moanin' slide trombone adds the
gutbucket
to the group as he takes us on a musicial journey through his many years
of
playing this great American music.
Nathaniel Schleimer's mastery of the "licorice stick"--the clarinet--and
his
powerful soprano sax playing in the vein of
Sidney Bechet will enthrall each
and every audience member.
John
Grabowski is a founding member of Dr. D and the Dixie Dogs ( our
former band name ) and plays sousaphone. John has years of
experience
and his musical reputation is unrivaled.
John Bigelow has been performing trad jazz
on sousaphone and tuba for
decades in the United States, and is highly regarded as the best in his
field.
He is a welcome addition to the band and keeps the bottom solid.
Tadd Morris is the drummer for the MSDJB, and is an
outstanding musician
as well as music educator. He has played numerous gigs and adds an
authentic,
exciting touch to the trad style of jazz drumming. Tadd is one of the
founding
members of Dr. D and the Dixie Dogs as well as the MSDJB.
Tim
Sherman is the banjo man, and keeps the rhythm grooving on his
instrument.
He has over thirty years playing experience on the west coast.
The Market Street Dixieland Jass Band performs for night clubs,
festivals, special
events, art walks,
street fairs
and is available for private functions. We perform a
classy show that is suitable for families as well as adults only events.
Our highlight of the evening is
involving the audience in a "second line" parade
on the much-loved "When The Saints Go Marchin' In" . You just
can't stay in
your chair when you listen to these gentlemen swingin' away--though the
tunes
may be from the last century, the music is timeless, irresistible and
fun!
